The evolutionary model of wellbeing is based on the 7 dimensions of wellness, 5 aspects of self AND alignment with nature’s seasons. It aligns with our four brains. Irrational beliefs are the foundation of many people’s frustrations and disappointments with life. A place where we ask questions about 'who we are'. Similarly, self-worth can be heightened through effective management of life’s challenges as self-worth is valuing your inherent worth as a person.
THE STORY TELLER
CHARACTERISTICS: Thinking, emotions, control, positive humour, and work
DIMENSION: Emotional Wellness & Occupational Wellness
There are five elements to the Story Teller: thinking, emotions, control, positive humour, and work
As many studies over time have suggested, what one thinks affects our emotions as well as the body.
Similarly, our own emotional experiences have a habit of affecting our cognitive responses to similar experiences. Positive expectations influence emotions, behaviour, and anticipated outcomes, and positive humour are known to have a pervasive influence on physical as well as mental functioning.
CHARACTERISTIC: Exercise, Nutrition and the “speaking” body
DIMENSION: Physical Wellness
The Athlete includes three elements, exercise, nutrition and the ‘speaking’ body
Exercise and nutrition are widely promoted in society today, however, they are overemphasised and do not incorporate all other aspects of self for evolutionary wellness to become a ‘better’ self. Consistent exercise and proper nutrition play a vital role in your ability to maintain your overall health and quality of life. Your body needs quality fuel and proper maintenance to function, however, it also ‘speaks’ to you to let you know when other aspects of yourself are out of balance.
