The evolutionary model of wellbeing focuses on 5 aspects of self AND alignment with nature’s seasons. It aligns with our four brains. Thinking (head) feeling (heart) sensing (gut/intuition) and talking (physical body). When all these elements are aligned we live life with a healthy mind, body and spirit - the root to pure joy, freedom and happiness.
CHARACTERISTICS: Friendship, Love, Family and Environment
The Friend has four components: friendship, love, family and the environment
Friendships enrich your life and improve your health. Friendships can have a major impact on your health and well-being, they can also increase your sense of belonging and purpose and boost your happiness and reduce your stress. They are effective in improving your self-confidence and self-worth through quality friendships they enable you to grow as a person.
CHARACTERISTICS: Spirituality, Self-Care, Culture and Identity
The Guide comprises of four elements: spirituality, self- care, gender identity, and cultural identity
Spiritual beliefs are an important part of how many people deal with life's joys and hardships. Faith, whatever kind, provide people with a sense of purpose and guidelines for living. Medical studies have confirmed that spirituality can have a profound positive effect on mental states.
CHARACTERISTICS: Realistic Beliefs, Stress Management, Self-Worth, and Leisure
There are four elements to The Amazon: Realistic Beliefs, Stress Management, Self-Worth, and Leisure
Irrational beliefs are the foundation of many people’s frustrations and disappointments with life. A place where we ask questions about 'who we are'. Similarly, self-worth can be heightened through effective management of life’s challenges as self-worth is valuing your inherent worth as a person.
CHARACTERISTICS: Thinking, emotions, control, positive humour, and work
There are five elements to the Story Teller: thinking, emotions, control, positive humour, and work
As many studies over time have suggested, what one thinks affects our emotions as well as the body.
Similarly, our own emotional experiences have a habit of affecting our cognitive responses to similar experiences. Positive expectations influence emotions, behaviour, and anticipated outcomes, and positive humour are known to have a pervasive influence on physical as well as mental functioning.
CHARACTERISTIC: Exercise, Nutrition and the “speaking” body
The Athlete includes three elements, exercise, nutrition and the ‘speaking’ body
Exercise and nutrition are widely promoted in society today, however, they are overemphasised and do not incorporate all other aspects of self for evolutionary wellness to become a ‘better’ self. Consistent exercise and proper nutrition play a vital role in your ability to maintain your overall health and quality of life. Your body needs quality fuel and proper maintenance to function, however, it also ‘speaks’ to you to let you know when other aspects of yourself are out of balance.
